Château Patris
Acquired in 1967 by the present owners, Geneviève and Michel Querre, Château Patris is located on the southern side of the Saint-Emilion slopes, adjacent to the vineyards of Château Angélus.
Appellation: Saint-Emilion Grand Cru
Region: Bordeaux
Grape Varieties: Merlot 80%, Cabernet Franc 10%, Cabernet Sauvignon 10%
Vineyard: The 9-hectare estate enjoys outstanding sun exposure and natural shelter from cold north winds. Grapes ripen perfectly in soil composed of sand, chalk, and clay. Château Patris is meticulously cared for with regular bunch and leaf thinning. Grapes are handpicked and placed in small crates to prevent bruising.
Winemaking: Vinification at Château Patris combines tradition and modernity, optimizing the potential of each vintage. Michel and Geneviève Querre, along with their team, aim to produce a deep Saint-Emilion with a velvety yet well-structured texture. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel vats, maintaining fruit integrity. Sixty percent of aging takes place in new barrels, renewed annually for the first wine.
Tasting Notes: Tannins are simple yet coated with a refreshing finish. Château Patris presents itself as a very pleasing wine capable of ageing gracefully.
