Château La Fleur de Boüard
Living in the middle of the Lalande-de-Pomerol appellation area, Hubert de Boüard de Laforest always believed that estates in Lalande-de-Pomerol can produce outstanding wines on par with the greatest Bordeaux appellations. He bought this 60-acre property in 1998, supported by his children, Coralie and Matthieu, and by his Technical Director Philippe Nunes, who applies his technical and oenological know-how in a new, environmentally friendly approach to wine growing.
Appellation: Lalande de Pomerol
Region: Bordeaux
Grape Varieties: 85% Merlot - 8% Cabernet Sauvignon - 7% Cabernet Franc
Vineyard: The 60-acre vineyard is 25 years old and lies on a clay-loam topsoil and a gravelly subsoil.
Winemaking: The winemaking process takes place entirely by gravity in inverted truncated tanks. The wine is then aged for 18 to 24 months in oak barrels.
Tasting Notes: La Fleur de Boüard offers a ripe, red berry nose with a hint of chocolate. The palate is juicy, round, and smooth with a firm finish.
Food Pairing: This wine pairs well with game and gravy, spit-roasted lamb or beef fillet, and pan-fried boletus mushrooms and potatoes. It is also perfect with Pata Negra ham or cheese.
