Appellation: Costieres de Nimes

Region: Southern Rhone Valley

Grape Varieties: Syrah 60%, Carignan 30%, Grenache 10%

Winemaking: The grapes are harvested by hand for the old Carignan. Each varietal is fermented separately with long traditional extractions (28 days) for the Syrah and carbonic maceration for the old Carignan. The wine is aged in tanks for 2 years to develop velvet smooth tannins.

Tasting Notes: Deep colored, with a spicy and concentrated palate, this wine has a complex nose of dark fruits, freshly cracked black pepper, and herbs de Provence. The full-bodied palate is rich and juicy, marked by elegance and ample presence. Les Cimels Costieres de Nimes is also outstanding, showing fresh, perfumed notes of plum, blueberries, charcoal, crushed flowers, and leather on the nose. This is followed by a medium to full-bodied, fruit-filled red with notable freshness, soft tannins, and a clean finish. It’s a beautifully Provencal effort to enjoy over the next 3-5 years.

Food Pairing: Best enjoyed over the next 5 years with various cold or grilled meats and game dishes.
