Eric and Nathalie Boyer took over the Chateau des Gimarets in 2007, and since then, they have worked on reviving the estate's former glory. By modernizing facilities and dedicating themselves to their work, they have led the estate to regain its rank as a producer of Great Wine.

Appellation: Moulin à Vent

Region: Beaujolais

Grape Variety: 100% Gamay Noir

Vineyard: Located in the Beaujolais region, in the village of Moulin à Vent, the Chateau des Gimarets produces Crus from its very specific and unique terroir of 11 acres, adjacent to the historic castle. The soil is granitic and sandy. On this homogeneous, granitic-sand poor soil, the gobelet-trained vines are, on average, 65 years old. Vine growing is respectful of the environment and the vegetative cycle of the plant. Harvesting is done manually for optimum preservation, better sorting, and quality guarantee of the grapes.

Winemaking: The vinification process is attentive to the natural evolution of the wine. The maceration lasts for 21 days, and the fermentation is subjected to controlled temperatures. After being bottled at the estate, the wines enjoy a long rest, improving themselves year after year in the cellars of the 17th-century estate.

Tasting Notes: With a shimmering dark ruby red color, this wine offers subtle aromas of blackberries, silkier tannins, and a powerful and enjoyable length that fills the mouth. The final palate reveals some spicy notes. This wine will improve with aging and will be at its peak when it is 7 to 10 years old, at which point it will have gained complexity, aromas, and delicacy.

Food Pairing: This fine wine is the perfect companion for a friendly aperitif and will harmonize marvelously with all meals. Ready to drink now, the wine will get better and better over the years, reaching its best after a decade.
