Sparkling Wine (“Crémant”)

AOC Crémant de Limoux Premium

In 1531, a Benedictine monk from Limoux invented the first sparkling wine in the world.

The artist and designer VanBinh dressed this bottle.

As such, Première Bulle spotlights the expertise and synergy of the artist with Sieur d’Arques’ winemakers.

Grape Varieties:

70% Chardonnay, 20% Chenin, 10% Mauzac.

Terroir:

The vineyards are located on hillsides of Limoux.  The soils are clay-like limestone at an altitude of 300 meters.  They’re distributed among the four main terroirs of the appellation: Mediterranean, Autan, Océanique and Haute-Vallée.

Winemaking and Ageing:

Low yields (below 50 hl/ha) allows perfect maturity of the grapes and concentration of varietal aromas.

Grapes are vinified, with the second fermentation — also called « prise de mousse » — occuring in bottles.

This is the “méthode traditionelle.”

After ageing on laths between 15 and 18 months, bottles are preserved in cellars to promote development of secondary aromas and fine bubbles.

Tasting notes:

Color:

  • Pale yellow with green tints.
  • Fine and lingering sparkling with delicate foam.

Nose:

  • Fresh, elegant bouquet of varietal aromas and secondary aromas developed during ageing on lies.
  • Notes of white flowers (hawthorn and acacie) and white fleshed-fruits (pear and peach) evolving towards toasted, brioche and buttered notes.

Palate:

The palate is fresh and lively with a pleasant unctuousness brought by the bubbles. The wine develops grilled and toasted aromas on the finish. This Crémant is harmonious, fresh and highly elegant.

Serving:

Recommended at 7-8°C. Particularly suited for all kinds of festive moments.
