Gigondas La Cave – Beaumirail
Gigondas AOC
Grape Variety:
63% Black Grenache – 24% Syrah – 13% Mourvèdre and Cinsault
Vineyard:
The vineyard is located over the village of Vacqueyras, in the southern part of Gigondas at the foot of the Dentelles de Mont-
mirail. The soil is typical from the Ice Age, with alluvial deposits on terraces. Vines benefit from a warm and dry climate with an important sun exposure.
Winemaking:
After a complete destemming, the traditional winemaking takes place in vat for 21 days, with temperature control and various umballasting, punching down and pumping-over. The wine aged in vat in order to keep all its natural flavors.
Tasting Note:
A magnificent deep red colour with purple nuances. The presence and elegance of the wine is revealed with ripe blackberries, blackcurrant and black cherries. After a little time of aeration, slightly notes of blueberries and plums are bringing out. The first sensation on the palate is well-defined, and smooth. Tannins are delicate and melt themselves in the richness of the wine’s body. The finish confers spicy notes of nutmeg and clove developing a subtle perfume of violets and of licorice aftertaste.
Food Pairing:
Its youth and freshness will perfectly match various sunny dishes. Otherwise the wine can be laid down for 2 to 4 years and will idealy go along with a stew or a vegetables based meal.
