Vineyard:
Château Montus has gotten the best from unique terroirs in southwest France, which are on steep slopes of fine clay with big pebbles, due to the Pyrénées formation. The estate expresses all the qualities of these amazing terroirs. The 30-year old vine is grown on steep slopes with big pebbles melt with brown and red clays. Facing south/southwest, this warm and well- drained soil improves the grape ripening. Yield are voluntary maintain low : 6-7 bunches per plant, and the entire harvest is done manually in order keep only the best grapes.
Winemaking:
After 3 to 6 weeks of maceration, the fermentation is done in wooden vats with punching down the cap and followed by a malolactic fermentation. Then the wine is aged on the lees for 12-14 months in 60-80% new barrels.
Tasting notes:
Pleasant and deep wine, with soft red fruit coulis and fine tannins offering a excellent balance. Power and elegance are perfectly combine to create a real delightful wine.
Food pairing:
Château Montus can be served with beef ribs, duck breast, spicy oriental food.
