Alain Brumont – Château Montus
AOC Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh
Through observation, experiments of all kinds, and his desire to enhance the terroir by drawing out all of its substance, Alain Brumont and his team produce the best expression given by the Montus vineyards.
Grape Varieties:
Petit Courbu, Petit Manseng 30 year old vines.
Vineyard:
The vines of Petit Courbu and Petit Manseng are 30 years old and planted one by one on clay and limestone terraces with pebbles.
Winemaking:
After a gentle pressing of the grapes, the juice ferments at low temperature in barrels. Then the wine is aged on lees in big barrels between 1 to 2 years depending on the vintage.
Tasting Note:
While the Petit Courbu gives softness, floral notes and freshness, Petit Manseng provides a good structure, mineral notes and richness. The oak character is well integrated and soft, so the wine can keep is freshness and roundness in mouth.
Food pairing:
A 3-4 year old Montus wine can be served with fish or white meat. Whereas a 6-15 year old one would be excellent with Foie Gras or a Thanksgiving turkey.
Rating:
Vintage 2012: 91 Points Wine Enthusiast
