Mercurey AOC

Dufouleur Père & Fils have been winemakers and merchants from father to son for over 4oo years. Their experience and the constant emphasis on quality have made the great reputation of Dufouleur’s wines.

Grape Variety:

Pinot Noir 100%

Vineyard:

In the heart of the Côte Chalonnaise, Mercurey is one of the most important wine appellations of Burgundy. Protected from the wet winds by its hills, the vines are 980 feets above sea level. They extend on marl, limestone and sandstone soils, a perfect combinaison to grow Pinot Noir.

Winemaking:

Combining traditional methods with modern equipment, Dufouleur Père & Fils produce wines that express the unique characteristics of each individual terroir. The Mercurey macerates for 20 days in open wooden tanks, with extraction techniques. Then it is aged for less than a year in old barrels such as every wines at the estate.

Tasting Note:

With a deep ruby color, this crisp-fruited wine evokes strawberry, raspberry, and cherry notes. Aging brings in notes of underbrush, spicy tobacco and cocoa beans aromas in the mouth.  Rich, full-bodied and chewy when young it will become attractively round and meaty after few years.

Food Pairing:

This wine will be revealed along with RIB steak and braised chicken.
