Moulin à Vent AOC

Eric and Nathalie Boyer took over the Chateau des Gimarets in 2007, since then they develop the ambitious project about giving back to life the glory of the estate. By modernizing  facilities and with a dedicated work they had led the estate to regain its rank of Great Wine.

Grape Variety :

100% Gamay noir

Vineyard:

Based in the region of Beaujolais in the village of Moulin a vent, the Chateau des Gimarets produces Crus from its very specific and unique terroir of 11 acres,  adjacent to the historic castle. On a homogeneous granitic- sand poor soil, the gobelets-trained vines are in average 65 years old. The vine growing is respectful of the environment and the vegetative cycle of the plant. Harvesting is done manually for optimum preservation, better sorting and quality guarantee of the grappes.

Winemaking:

The vinification is attentive to the natural evolution of the wine, the maceration last for 21 days and the fermentation is subjected to control temperature. After being bottled at the estate, wines cherish a long rest while improving themselves from year to year in the cellars of the XVIIth century.

Tasting Note:

With a shimmering dark ruby red color, this wine offers subtle aromas of black berries, silkier tannins and a powerful enjoyable length and filling mouth. The final palate reveals some spicy notes. It will improve with aging and will be at its peak when it is 7 to 10 years old. Then it will have won in complexity, aromas and delicacy.

Pairing Food:

This fine wine will be the perfect companion for a friendly aperitif and will harmonized marvelously every world’s meal. Ready to drink now, the wine will get better and better years after years for a decade.
