Domaine Saint Pierre
Vacqueyras AOC
Grapes varieties :
Grenache 60 % – Syrah 40 %
Vineyard:
The estate has been run by the Fauque family for severals generations and has been named after the Patron Saint of Violès. Nowadays managed by Jean-François Fauque, the family harmoniously take care of the 123 acres of vineyard located in prestigious appellations of the Southern Rhône Valley. The vines take advantage of a Mediterranean climate characterized by gentle winter, hot and dry summer with a low rainfall and strong winds. The ground is composed by 60% of limestone and pebbles mixed with red clay. Concerned by the environment, the family choose to run the vineyard following the integrated viticulture process.
Winemaking:
The quality of each vintage is mostly representative of the wine-grower’s yearly work. Therefore, a special attention is given to the vine during its growing cycle. The harvest is entirely destemmed and undergoes a cold maceration. All the grapes varieties are mixed together during the winemaking process, which is done under temperature control. The wine undergoes daily umbalasting and punching down for at least 3 weeks before being aged in oak barrels for 12 monts.
Tasting Note:
Deep ruby color revealing smoke-accented cherry, boysenberry and candied licorice aromas on a highly perfumed nose. Silky entry on red and blue fruit flavors, enhanced by peppery nuances and a hint of candied flowers. Sweet and homogeneous on the finish, that lasts with fine tannins.
