Dauvergne Ranvier – Gigondas Grand Vin
Gigondas AOC
Grape Variety:
Grenache 80% – Shyraz 20%
Vineyard:
The vines of the Grand Vin are mostly planted on the North-Eastern part of the appellation, between 650 to 1500 above sea level. The low yield (30hl/ha) gives this wine a good concentration and a better quality.
Winemaking:
The grapes are hand harvested and carefully destemmed before a long maceration – this contributes to a perfect extraction of the grape’s ripe components. The wine is partially aged in foudres (big oak barrels) and vats during 12 month before being bottled.
Tasting Note:
The color is dark ruby. The nose is dominated by fresh red fruits that will evolve towards typical Provence aromas and woody notes. The palate is at the same time round and powerful with a very long finish.
Food Pairing:
Pair with meats such as lamb or beef, or with cheese. To drink now though 2027.
Rewards:
Vintage 2015: 91 Points Wine Spectator – 91 Points Vinous
