Château Maucoil – Trésor des Papes
Chateauneuf du Pape AOC
Grape Varieties :
Grenache blanc (70%) – Bourboulenc (15%) – Clairette (15%)
Vineyard :
Château Maucoil’s vineyards are located in the North West of the Chateauneuf-du-Pape area, on the left bank of the Rhône river. An ideal location that allows the estate to be entirely organic since 2011. The vines for this white wine are planted on an urgonian and limestone soil, that perfectly suits their production. The yield is around 25 hl/ha and harvesting is carried out by hand.
Winemaking:
After a 4-hour cold skin maceration and a gentle pressing, the alcoholic fermentation is maintained at 18°C. Malolactic fermentation is prevented in order to preserve the wine’s freshness and acidity. The wine goes into barrels and aged on its lees for 6 months, with a regular stirring up of the lees to develop the aromas.
Tasting note:
Lovely light gold color with green nuances. This wine is expressive with honey notes and aromas of yellow fruit and white flowers. On the palate, the wine displays a fresh frame, an exceptional velvety texture and a superb length with dried fruit and nuts flavors.
Food Pairing:
This wine pairs well with rich cuisine, selfish or poultry in a sauce. When mature, it will make a fabulous match for strong cheeses. Serve between 10 and 12°C
