Pessac Leognan Blanc AOC
Guided by the businessman Bernard Barthe, who became its owner in 1994, the estate undertook a genuine renaissance with a program of considerable investments in the vines and facilities. It was in 2004 that the Mau family and the Dutch businessman, Cees Dirkzwager, acquired the estate. Jean-Christophe Mau, the 5th generation of the Bordeaux wine-trading Mau family, took over the property. Following in the footsteps of the previous owner, he conducted a quality-focused strategy and investing in the vines, winemaking procedures, human resources and cutting-edge equipment.
Grape Varieties:
70% Sauvignon Blanc – 30% Sémillon
Vineyard:
Grapes grow on vines aged of 20 years and planted on clay-limestone and fine gravel over a clay-limestone subsoil.
Winemaking:
After a manual harvest, the alcholic fermentation takes place in barrels and then the wine is aged over fine lees with stirring during 8 months in French oak barrels with mild toast.
Tasting note:
This wine offers a very complex nose with citrus notes, superb spice and pepper aromas. Then the palate is both strength and smoothness.
Food pairing:
This wine will perfectly match with a variety of different dishes such as seafood, chicken, pork, sushi, mid spicy dishes.
