Madiran AOC

Chateau Bouscassé has been in Alain Brumont family for many generations, one of the most recognized winemaker in the world. A pioneer artist who draws his inspiration from his terroir: great hillsides perched on limestone cliffs. Attentive to the environment, he lets the terroir express all its secrets by itself, which is a key asset to enhance Tannat: the iconic grape variety of the region.

Grape Variety:

Tannat – Cabernet-Sauvignon – Cabernet-Franc

Vineyard:

The terroir consists of a collection of plots of fine yellow and white  clays on a layer of fissured limestone.  Here is Madiran’s former elegance, charm and voluptuousness, in all its 18th century glory, when it “rubbed shoulders” with France’s greatest wines and reigned supreme over the rich cuisine of the Southwest. The vines grow following sustainable methods and are at least 20 years old but some of them are much older and approach 100 years.

Winemaking:

Depending on the vintage the maceration and fermentation can last for 3 to 6 weeks. Then the wine aged on lees in oak barrels with 30% to 50% new oak.

Tasting Notes:

Powerful but elegant, subtle and well structured wine, with delicate fruit aromas such as blackberries melted with soft tannins. This is a wine that stays young for a long time, evolving very slowly, and thus has a good potential to age.

Food Pairing:

The wine will be delightful with red meat, turkey and duck. It will also pair with spicy dishes such as Indian or Asian food.
