Château Beauséjour – Cuvée Spéciale

Puisseguin Saint-Emilion AOC

The presence of the family in the village of Puisseguin dates back to the Middle Ages. Marceau Dupuy, grandfather of Gerard, Doctor of Medicine and also politician, acquired the property Beauséjour in 1934. Upon returning from the war in 1945, Alain Dupuy, his son, will take the wealth management by applying the teachings of his grandfather, Mr. Berthon, owner of Château Langlais.Today, Gérard Dupuy, manages all the company.

Grape Variety:

70% Merlot – 30% Cabernet Franc

Vineyard:

Located in the heart of the village of Puisseguin, the vineyard of Château Beauséjour encompasses ​​49 acres on the famous clay-limestone Terroir of Saint Emilion. In the middle of the estate, is built a Castle of the 19th century: the stone walls allow his cellar to provide optimum conditions for ageing wines of excellence, with a constant temperature. Vines are grown with traditional methods of the great-grandfather, now qualified as « organic methods ». The soil is free of chemical products and the presence of fragile wild tulips evidenced every spring.

Winemaking:

The vinification takes place without added products, in compliance with organic farming specifications and indigenous yeasts to maintain the authenticity of the Terroir. Fermentation during 2 to 3 weeks at temperatures below 30°C to preserve fruit flavors and get well-balanced wines. This first step finishes by a long maceration in order to bring tannins, needed for the long period of aging in bottles, 15 years on average.

The wine will by the perfect companion for a grilled meat or with a chocolate-based dessert.
