Château Bouscassé – Vieilles vignes
AOC Madiran
Located in southwest France, Château Bouscassé is the family estate and the birth place of Alain Brumont. Voted best winegrower by numerous international magazines, he is constantly developing new ideas and planning the future. For instance he was the first to produce a Madiran with 100% Tannat.
Grape Variety:
100% Tannat
Vineyard:
Produced from vines that are more than 50 years-old, Vieilles Vignes come from the finest white clay terroirs, with small black and white pebbles on the surface. Replacement by marcottage (layering) provides a way of obtaining healthy ungrafted vines.
Winemaking:
Depending on the vintage the maceration lasts between 3 to 6 weeks, followed by the fermentation and malolactic fermentation in new oak barrels. The wine is aged on its lees for 14 to 16 months, entirely in new oak barrels which gives it originality and character.
Tasting note:
This is full bodied wine where the Tannat gives concentrated notes of black fruits and soft aromas of cigar and mocha.
Food pairings
Vieilles Vignes can be enjoyed with duck breast, ribs of beef, game, lamb, chocolate and red fruits cakes…
