My experience with Exede was amazing. If it is cloudy, rainy, windy, snow, sleet, overcast, then it buffers about every 45 seconds. I do not understand this. They'll take your money if they don't deliver service, and they'll take your money when you no longer want their service. I hate to be so dramatic, but we are all so sick of it. We went on with no internet connectivity or sporadic connectivity for the next several months. In addition, the cost is about three times that of any other service. TERRIBLE SERVICE, TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, HORRIBLE THEY DO NOT WORK WITH YOU. BroadbandNow is supported by commissions from some of the providers listed on our site. The largest, fastest Viasat plan that I was offered was unlimited data up to 100gb then we would be prioritized against customers not over their data allotment and download speed up to 25mps. Limited throughput, yes. It's unlimited until it reaches a point (which is exactly NOT the definition of unlimited), and then you will be prioritized behind customers who have not gone over their data cap, or in other words, your service will be slowed down to the point of unusable because you reached your data cap. Finally got in touch with customer service, he walked me through the process. I did, multiple times, the last time learning they've determined I didn't return the equipment. 35.3 percent of those customers indicated that they would recommend Viasat's services. I can't afford that much. It's satellite but It's the best one out of the bunch. Here is their verbiage: "After 100GB of data usage, we may prioritize your data behind other customers during network congestion." this is a very bad company, they dont care about their customers i paid a 300 non refundable deposit for unlimited serv but im gettin 40 gigs for the month wen i stream tv, dsl is better than this un limited wth cox thats wat i suggest deal dont do it way no. Everything isn't instant but if I can get my IT job done at home, you know it can't be too bad! User's recommendation: Don't get this service the speed is terrible and so is customer service/. Best regards. They came out and said it was fixed once again and still couldn’t do anything online. I am sitting on hold right now actually, waiting for someone. Sometimes, rarely, Viasat gets overwhelmed and speeds suffer immensely, but, luckily that is not common, I rather use Viasat, even with three times the price of their competitor. I signed a two year commitment about 20 months ago. Blog article. November 16, 2018. Are you a current or former Viasat Internet (formerly Exede) customer in a Viasat Internet (formerly Exede) service area like Houston, Chicago, or Brooklyn? They have explained that once I hit my data limit each month, which I always do because I do not have cable and I stream everything, I am moved to a lower speed (throttling). When I went to cancel the service the woman argued with me. I've filed a complaint with the BBB, and am leaving reviews for other prospective customers - avoid my situation! Magnified: Zooming in on the best of everything. I average 15Gb/s DL speed which is respectable, even once we got past our priority data. July 03, 2017. September 15, 2016. Travis on August 22, 2016. He stated we should give it 24 hours to reach its best potential. We installed Viasat one month ago at our cabin in northern AZ. May 01, 2019. It usually takes about 3 hrs. Unsubscribe easily. I'm very happy with Exede except I don't have enough data to watch Netflix. There is not enough information available to create the chart. If you're in a remote area where the only broadband service available is satellite internet, then Exede can be more cost-effective (e.g., EXEDE12 10GB, with unlimited data during overnight "free zone" period). We ended up going with Viasat and I'm SO glad we did! All Rights Reserved. January 27, 2020. Daniel on It would work if I would run an Ethernet cable from my router to my TV. My 2 sons are in a digital academy at home for school which requires them to log on to zoom-like meetings with the teacher and classmates and log in to do assignments. Unlike the other providers, Exede simply throttles you after you go over your monthly data cap while also offering you uncapped free data in the early hours. The only thing I would change is data allowance because I have young ones now who love to use the web and use sites like YouTube and that burns through data. I am not sure in what other business it's acceptable to take people's money and not deliver on the service paid for but that's 100% what Viasat is getting away with; they lie and steal from their customers. Catoosakid on You get used to it I guess though. I have tried calling MANY MANY times now and have been left on hold for at least 30 minutes every time, one time I waited over and HOUR. Once this occurs, you are basically unable to do anything, including surfing websites. Karen Lewis on Aimee Hurst on March 06, 2019. I understand that they need to make money, but punishing their old customers so they "upgrade" to plans with lower caps and higher prices is really not a good way to do business. Not happy. I would definitely upgrade if I wasn’t going to be stuck in another 2 year contract. Worse internet I’ve ever seen. Then they want to charge a termination fee of 150.00. Anyway he went through and straightened out all my WiFi units, especially my TV, Viasat is not the piece of Junk I called it, it is one fine rural internet, a lot faster, way more dependable than my last carrier by far. May 16, 2020. Not worth the money at all. We often stream at under 360p and it counts towards our limit. The algorithm is subject to change in future. The customer service for most part has helped me out and because I don't have many options because of location, they are the best at what they do. Billing tells me they can't adjust bill? I called them to ask how, and could they help, was there anything they could do…the foreign customer service rep was so unhelpful. Annette Morton on I'd recommend to anyone with no other options. I’ve had the 100Mbps service for months and it is fast when the service is not down which is too often. We’re on the highest data plan now and many things start buffering when we get to just 75Gb, but overall Via-sat is still the best for the money for the mountain that we live on, although it is very expensive compared to cable in town and cable is a LOT more unlimited. They do offer new data plans like the "Liberty Plans" which means you get at least 12mbps, but I get around 20Mbps for your priority data. User's recommendation: Great single but bad on tell u about the bill. How there is no other option in today's day and age is unfathomable, but that's another topic. I have been with VIASAT (formerly Exede) for many years. It was installed on a rainy, cloudy day, but the connection was comparable to DSL or even high speed internet. Want to see if Viasat Internet (formerly Exede) is available in your area? Now customer service is bad and I pay $160 for internet that only works in the daytime hours. So if they released plans for higher data like I have been hearing, then I would give them 5 stars. The download and the internet are great especially out here. Thank You VIASAT, and know that this customer truly appreciates you! This makes a huge difference because even though you may have a 1Gb NIC, it may not handle the local source's (Satellite Modem) transfer characteristics.
