If they can include both the female protagonist of P3 Portable and The Answer from P3: FES, that would be a dream come true. All the Persona games I've played thus far (3-5, plan on starting 1 after my exams), they've all felt and looked different when it comes to combat, while P3P borrows so much from 4 that it makes me feel like it lost part of its own identity. It's the first of the "modern" Persona's. I love the new social link additions and the fact that there are new social links in the first place. If anything, this static screen VN style makes it perfect for the handheld too.
If you missed out on Persona 3 when it first came out, and skipped FES in 2008, then now is your chance to rectify that. For a game like Persona 3, modding would help add quality of life over any spot Atlus decides not to patch. But imo Fes is the definitive version of Persona 3. I know this sounds weird because mechanically speaking P4 IS the better game, thus P3’s remake SHOULD draw inspiration from the better game. But save points are somewhat of an outdated concept when auto-saves are so easy to implement.
Persona 3 veterans will get a kick out of playing through the story from a new female perspective, gaining new Social Links, special events, and unique romantic opportunities. What I've heard a lot in the Persona community is that quite a bit of fans consider P3P to be the definitive version of Persona 3. One thing I will say is Persona 3 Portable makes for a decent companion to Persona 3 in general, say if you started with Fes and then followed that up with a play through of Portable later on. I could've just watched a youtube video with the missed cutscenes and stuff and been done with it. from the Megami Tensei series published by Atlus. Feels like Persona 4 with a new story and less features but it's still really good. every main character backstory is well thought out and you cant help but identify with them, I prefer 3 FES over Portable (even though I'm a huge handheld enthusiast). Not only are they some of the better smt games, they're great Persona games in their own right. You know what would be great though? The third in Atlus' unusually thought-provoking RPG series. I advice play fes first for the story because is 3d and has story cutscene, portable has gameplay quality of life but is pretty much visual novel except tartarus. Where Persona 3 is a mature story about the nature of life and death, Persona 4 is far lighter and deals with softer, looser connected themes. 40 Persona 3 Portable is really good and cuts into the tedium of walking around by making it a visual novel with a faster pace to it.
So when I say I don't like Persona 3 Portable, that doesn't mean I don't like it, it just means I don't like it as much as I like Fes.

I just don't love it like I do Fes. I’ve become more of a casual player in my later years with less patience for any JRPGs that have overly complicated mechanics. Persona 3 and 4 are both very good RPGs in their own right, but they’re fairly different from one another. As someone who likes P3P better than fes, it really comes down to the fact that I really did not care at all about removing the roaming aspect because it wasn't that interesting to begin with. While it is great to experience the game blind, some people just don't want to have to worry about the pop quizzes or reversing social links. Much better gameplay(which is still simplistic crap), better overall control(easier to move from room to room, lots of user-friendly buttons), and the new female protagonist adds several new social links and makes the whole game enjoyable all over again, if you can deal with the awkwardness that comes with playing as a female who actually expresses her feminity at all times.
I've played P4 Golden and P4 Dancing. What ever, it's not that big of a deal. Persona 3 is honestly my favorite story wise. It often requires an extra download, but that's a small price to pay for the choice of hearing the dialogue in its native language. it's a really grindy game even compared to persona 4 (if you skipped 4s side quests). While the player already has a fair bit of room to see what's going on in Tartarus, better computers should have the ability to reduce some of that fog and see more of the dungeon as it is explored.
Its the entry I tell everyone to try to get into persona. The order button doesn’t show the full turn order anymore. anyways the characters arent as lovable as 4s or 5s BUT the feels are real. P3P lets you hit on best boy Akihiko, 10/10. Overall I would say the changes to the combat were for the better. I can personally relate to your point about "tactics."
but it's a JRPG I actually managed to finish which says a lot about the quality. Exploring Tatsumi Port Island by foot and navigating places by yourself is a pretty exciting experience. Now, if they were to take away the roaming aspect of Persona 4 and Persona 5, then I would have a problem, because the environments are integral to the stories of those game. Persona 3 History. I played it before playing FES via the PS3 (it is/was downloadable there) and felt like after playing FES it was a waste of time. Just like colleagues I never got attached to them and even though they did their job accordingly I wasn’t sad to say goodbye to them when I finished. Both versions of Persona 3 exist and if you happen to favor Portable then more power to you, I just felt like putting my opinion out there. It's a lot more like a visual novel-kind of style. Now I either need to scope out a strike type Persona, or always bring Akihiko or Aigis with me to use strike attacks.
