Delta Zeta is probably the hardest to get in on our campus. They take sisterhood seriously and try not to get caught up in drama, which might lead to the sentiment that they're aloof and snobbish. Sisterhood is not a competition!! Their reputation varies from campus to campus but they are universally considered top-tier. Each campus is different. Alpha Phi. They are not considered nice—but not outright nasty either. wow. The reputation of each sorority is DIFFERENT at every sorority you go to. I'm rushing KD in the fall. :). The tier has everything to do with how picky it can be about members. As for Chi O, yeah they were founded here, but they are the rudest girls. This description may be related to two stereotypes about them: 1) they're not generally the most beautiful women on campus; or 2) they’re “easy.” This reputation has, unfortunately, led most other sororities on some campuses to consider them lower-tier. When they put on this show of being social, they can become unclassy and sloppy. They are known for hazing and weak sisterhood. AOII was the first sorority to demand that women be allowed at every university that men attended, and AOII was founded by strong women for women who are focused on changing the world. I was exposed to a bunch of them my sophomore year in college, and learned a bit through "osmosis" although I can completely understand not wanting to pledge! Being in a sorority is great in general, but being an Alpha Phi sorority member has many added benefits. Chi O id top tier there also. At my school the top three sororities are Delta Zeta, Tri Sigma, and Alpha Sigma Alpha. Most down to earth girls I've ever met. Girls going through rush (and those rushing them) will decide where they fit in the best; the recruitment process is designed to try to ensure that good matches are made, and each PNM ultimately joins the house in which she will feel most comfortable. This powerful and philanthropic organization has been instrumental in beginning women's fraternities and fostering sisterhood for hundreds of years. Agreed that different universities hold sororities in different esteem!! Go to whatever campus you, your daughter, etc. and Kappa Kappa Gamma. All these Panhellenic chapters have something to benefit their members and shouldn't be labeled by one person's opinion based off of numbers and observations. Yes, the Pi Phi National standard of being beautiful, rich, blonde, and'hot' is upheld. Pi Beta Phi isn't always like that, I know someone who is very nice and outgoing who is in Pi Beta Phi . The fact that many Tri-Delts consider themselves top-tier might explain some of the resentment they get from other sororities. Not one!!! However, many consider Kappas materialistic. Tri-Delts have their own saying, "Tri-Delt, everyone else has." Kappa Delta ("KD") is considered an up-and-coming sorority, one that has risen to the top-tier in terms of reputation in recent decades. If you would like to participate in recruitment again, you can during the next primary recruitment period. Girls who pledge with DG are usually very happy when they are accepted into the fold. They were students calling Phi Mu girls Phi Moo at Arkansas and then the girls at LSU are pretty girls and it's a popular sorority. They are leaders. I'm from the Midwest. Whatever you read here should probably be ignored. They tend to have a strong sisterhood, and they can really develop strong bonds with particular frats. This stereotype may, however, be sour grapes on the part of other sororities with inferiority complexes. Kappa kappa gamma is the richest out of all of them. You can't leave out AOII since they are the largest in North America, and they are all about recruiting smart, progressive, amazing women. I attend one of the top universities in the country, and arguably the most competitive sorority school in the country. Ah well. I would venture to say your fraternity life was short and you are disparately trying to relive your college life. If they didn't like you,you knew it. However, they do not want to be seen as boring, so they try hard to look like party girls. Thanks! AXO girls are generally not considered terribly hot or popular but they are respected as classy and involved in campus life. Chi-Os and Kappa Alpha Thetas are top tier sororities at our school. They have a reputation for behaving like daddy's little princess but their top-tier reputation is intact across the country. OPINIONS, people. Alpha Phi is considered by many to be an upper mid-tier sorority. SDTs were the athletic ones, but known to be easy..std sdt. I am a proud AOII alumna from the University of Tennessee. No need for competition and comparison. Everyone is different. It's just a great place to meet friends that you will have for the rest of your life. Particularly on a very large campus, undergraduates can benefit from the friendship and support a sorority offers. (They can definitely handle their liquor.) Their academic reputation is good, but they also have a reputation for avoiding tough majors in favor of less-demanding subjects that don't conflict with their social lives. Fortunately, you correctly pointed out these are generalization because from campus to campus there are important differences and from region to region. Many consider them to be obsessed with their looks and say they have a reputation for body image issues. Again all the "rude" terms that I just associated with each house to not describe the individuals of a house, but terms like these come about when certain houses act together in poor ways. Alpha Gamma Delta - low-to-mid tier (annoying pranksters; nice but rude when partying; service oriented) - They seem to have a good sisterhood, which seems to be fueled by their need to pull pranks on other frats or steal things from frat houses. Some say the sorority is full of girls who were rejected at top-tier sororities but are still solidly mid-tier. Not every sorority is going to have the same reputation on every campus, and trust me, reading this crap will just make you miserable during recruitment. Alpha Phi girls are generally thought of as partiers who like to drink and have a good time. Each sorority's traits vary by campus. F off with this. Take the things you hear with a grain of salt and research your specific chapter. Then it's between Tri-Delt, Theta, and DG. Chi O, Delta Zeta, Alpha Phi, and Alpha Chi Omega were pretty accurate according to the different campuses I have visited. We know - Just about everything, right?! You seem very accurate in your general portrayals of the different sororities. They pick each other out before recruitment even begins. You have nothing to loose, and you'll never know if you could absolutely love it until you try it!! For instance, nationally ChiO is "Make-A-Wish" and DG is "Service for Sight." Society believed women did not need high education; the women decided to form a sisterhood to unite. Very pretty, very smart, very snobbish.
